Back to business: Favorite things…
First of all, Cady says Hi!
She’s felt under-represented lately, so there ya go.
I’m ignoring what the scale says until September. Roughly translated, it’s saying Move your Ass!
Instead, let’s look at some healthy eats I’ve been digging. First up, BEST soup ever:
This is ridiculously delicious. I can’t really describe the flavor – it’s full of spices without being spicy. Just run out and find it!
Last weekend we went to the PCC Healthy Living Expo where they were giving out lots of samples (I may have circled the Vegan cake samples 2 or 3 times). I had a chance to try this and immediately fell in love:
It’s milder than cream cheese, and a little thicker than Boursin. I had it on Essential Baking Company toast this morning (BFC 0/2), and it was trés yummy!
I think I totally forgot to mention that last week Obama visited Seattle and convened at Grand Central Bakery which is owned and run by folks I know. It was super exciting for them and fantastic publicity! I just happened to be eating a similar turkey sandwich at home that day on GCB bread! (I’m sure his was better because it had chutney on it!) My new favorite GCB bread is the Campagnolo. It makes awesome toast.
To cheer myself up, we’ve booked a getaway in a couple of months. We’ll be staying here in Portland:
That’s 435 sq feet of pure escape! I can’t wait! Instead of heading to Bowen Island this weekend, we’re going to Mason Lake instead. That’s fine with me. I’m just happy to run away!
Any fun plans for the weekend?

That soup looks FABULOUS! Where did you get it? I’ve never seen it around :/
I’m having a wine/dessert/game night at my place tomorrow night and a racking up some ultra-cool girlfriend points Saturday night by getting dragged to (I mean…willingly and eagerly attending) a UFC fight…erm…that should be interesting, lol
What a cute cabin!!
CHICKPEA BISQUE?! i gotta try that. love cady, love you, get some R&R!
Hi Cady from Sam & Ellie!
Yum- the Moroccan soup reminds me of the Rockin Moroccan from Native- droool.
I can just see you at the food fair, dawning a different wig every time you made the rounds back to the cake table
The Portland Cabin looks so fabulous. WEekend plans for us- shockingly we are staying HOME!!
Hi Faith – I got the soup at PCC, our neighborhood coop, but I’d think that Whole Foods would have it.
Hi Tiff,
I am trying to send you an email in the ‘contact me’ tab above, but it’s telling me I need a ‘really simple capcha’ plugin installed (I should note that the captchas for the comments show up for me just fine — obviously… or I wouldn’t be commenting
. So I went to install it and of course it’s only pc friendly and I’m on a mac. Is there another way I can contact you?
My weekend plans are a zz top concert and work! I’m trying to finish my masters thesis and it’s consuming my every moment
Kassi
I responded to Kassi by email but I wonder how long my contact’s been like that. We did just upgrade to a newer version of WordPress and Chris had to give me more bandwidth. I don’t know how you gals without web dev husband’s do this. I would have given up long ago!
